Hello Meave,Hardy bamboos grow best in USDA Zone 8. Tropical bamboos grow best in
USDA Zone 9. You might want to buy my book "Farming Bamboo" http://www.DogScooter.com/BambooFarmingUSA/
and read some of the archived articles. I have seen gorgeous stands
of hardy timber bamboos in Georgia and in Louisiana. I have seen
gorgeous tropical timber bamboos in Hawaii and Florida.
