Hola bambooseros...I tried to get some people to work on the Haiti quake, but didn't get it together then, so now we are several years late with our "flat pack" houses...I can design them to seismic zone 4 right now, but would like to exceed that with bamboo panels that haven't been made yet in sufficient quantities...I would like to hear from people in the region that are willing to work on the project....of course, funding is always the problem, but if anyone wants to join in a new venture that will always be necessary, for natural or man made disaster relief housing, let me know what you can do...we need people with computer skills to develop a compelling website and to get crown funding etc.
we need technical people to build the panels, and NGO contacts for logistics and deployment...It is inevitable that there will be earthquakes and storms, and Bamboo structures based upon laminated panels can be as strong as steel and a lot more eco sustainable...there is a need to have several deswigns for specific purposes, like hospitals and schools that can be quickly erected and last long term...why waste time with portable tents when we could have substantial buildings that can be erected with unskilled labor available at the site? This is a real opportunity to do good and make a living for a lot of us....So, what can I do to get some help for the Sherpas? Who has a factory that can make plyboo? I want to use "smashed' bamboo, not veneers...also want to make bamboo tension tendons from twisted fiber, to use in concrete for thin roofing panels....this is low tech stuff, so where are our Indian entrepreneurs on this sort of thing?
