Dear Ndzana,
the flowering of Ph. propinqua is a very common phenomenon here in Germany. For further details please ask in the forum of the EBS-Germany.

Dear Bamboo friends,My Phyllostachys propinqua is flowering for now a couple of weeks, so to say since the beginning of its vegetative season this year in Germany.I live in Hamburg (North part of Germany). My propinqua stand is a bout 10,0 m². The plants were transplanted from an established mature grove here in Hamburg 5 years ago. The plantation is healthy and is regularly managed. otice that emerging shoots are also developing flowers. So my 3 questions about this flowering are:1. Is there anybody in this group having also P. propinqua in Germany/ Europe? The issue here is to understand if this flowering is specific to my stand.2. Since bamboo produces seeds at flowering, what would be the best period/ time to harvest them?3. I expect to regrow my P. propinqua from the harvested seeds. At the same time it is known that bamboo seed germination is very low, that is why the vegetative propagation is well disseminated. So, could someone share successful experience about bamboo propagation through seeds, especially under cold climate?Greetings from Hamburg to allNdzana--Dr.-Ing. Ndzana
