We have been using design thinking to address issues of bamboo development in India for ver thirty years now. Much of the bamboo sector is dominated by scientific disciplines here in India and I do believe that they too need to understand design and design thinking as well as the role that it can play.
Do look at my Academia.edu archives for detailed documentation of what we have done already in the bamboo sector and perhaps you may appreciate what the role f design thinking could be going forward.
Take a look and then see if there is a connection or not. I also invite you to download my books on bamboo which are a direct outcome of the application of design thinking since we started working on bamboo in the late 1970s.
