I am aware that this group is not normally a place to announce such things, but since so many of you have known about my mother's research for her book on bamboo over a long period of years, and quite a few of you have assisted her, answering her questions and even providing photos, I thought you might like to know that the book is now available and accept her sincere appreciation for all that help.
So, it is with great pleasure that I announce that Marion Kundiger's bamboo book, many years in the making, is finally published. We are most grateful for all the assistance provided by this group! My intention is to let you know that all of your assistance helped to make it possible, not to solicit sales.
Her book, "Bam Boom! Bamboo - The Giant Grass," details the biology of bamboo and it's myriad uses. It is a 115 page book lavishly illustrated with over 240 photos from more than a dozen countries. A comprehensive index makes it easy to locate information. It includes a glossary, and a complete list of photo credits. Written in an engaging style, the book is fascinating reading for ages fifth grade through adult.
Since there is presently only ONE other children's book about bamboo in print and for sale in the USA, and it is a 24 page book that focuses only on the life cycle of bamboo, this book fills a void and may be of interest to educators and others who would like children and young people to know more about this important plant.
You may find it for sale initially online in these two places:
Marion Kundiger's CreateSpace "eStore"
https://www.createspace.com/6093253
Amazon.com
It should be available on the other Amazon country sites as well, and on Barnes and Noble within a few days.
Again, a heartfelt thank you from Marion, and from me, for all your help. She is 97 years old and losing her sight. I was so glad to be able to make this happen while she could still have the joy of seeing her labor of love in print.
Sincerely,
Jerri Garretson
