Dear Members of the Bamboo-Plantation Group,
I have created a Bamboo-Plantations Group on Facebook (which now has over 1000 members) and another group with the same name on LinkedIn (which now has nearly 200 members).
This group at Yahoo! has been around for over 15 years. With the valuable help of group moderators Kinder Chambers and Geoff Kyle, I have maintained a reasonably high level of quality in the group by filtering out spam and keeping discussions on track. Bamboo-Plantations would not have grown to be the largest bamboo discussion group on the Internet without the dedicated work of Kinder and Geoff. I thank them wholeheartedly.
As you all know, social networking has evolved a lot since this group was formed in the year 2000. FaceBook and LinkedIn, as well as Twitter and other sites, are now dominating social networking. We need to move with the times and adapt to the technological platforms that are available to us. Please join Bamboo-Plantations on FaceBook and/or LinkedIn. There is a lot of activity on those sites (especially on the FaceBook site, though I expect the LinkedIn site to catch up in time.)

This group at Yahoo! will continue to exist with moderation until June 20, 2016. From that date onwards, moderation will stop and most likely the group will fade away.
I will recruit moderators for the groups at FaceBook and LinkedIn to ensure their quality.
