While it is easy to get caught up in the enthusiasm for bamboo as the next best "wood product" source, these are questions that must be answered with hard data.
I recall seeing a post here about the use of bamboo for making fabric and the author was stating that the process for doing this involved some very environmentally damaging methods. If that information is correct, it simply says to me that better methods need to be found.
I do not have the information you are requesting but I will keep an eye out for it. I do feel that from what I have read, all things being equal, that even if the processing of bamboo for flooring uses methods similar to other wood product processing that the other positive environment impacts, lean the favor to the side of Bamboo.
Here is a Youtube video that shows bamboo flooring production in China. I takes 3 minutes of the 8 minute video to get into the process itself. While it does not answer your question it is a good video of the process and you might find it interesting.

Hello everyone!!
I am looking for actual facts that show how much is the use of energy,
water, chemicals, etc in the harvest and manufacturing process of
floors and furniture.
It is very easy to find info about how good Bamboo is, but it is very
difficult to find facts that can prove it!! Most of the info about this
topics that I mentioned above are just words that people says, which
are very valuable but I think we need real tests and proves of how
really good Bamboo is.
Maybe is that I haven´t looked well, or that since I am new then I dont
know where this info is, can somebody help me to find it, please?
